how many of you love to play games online? I love to play scrabble, and tetris.  i won two scrabble games the other day.  tell me what your favorite online games are.

Music to my Ears

The other day I was singing some of my favorite songs, and I wondered, what kind of music is the most soothing?  Different people must listen to various styles of music to relax with, since we all have our own tastes.  My husband likes classical.  I like smooth jazz and easy listening.  What kind of music relaxes and/or soothes YOU the best?

waxing poetic

this time of year, it seems to me
the earth can take a breath
a tiny pause
a parentheses
after summer's heat
before the winter chill

autumn is a gentle easing
temperatures are pleasing
telling us to wait a while
enjoy the colors and the flavors

the leaves' own majesty
does celebrate the days
when the trees give one last hurrah
'fore they go dormant 'neath the snow

So let us too enjoy the time
we have, a time when harvesters
bring the bounty in
rewarding all their hard work
through the year

Thanksgiving's coming up--
but why wait till then?
thank God right now,
for autumn

Time

We only have so many hours each day, so what we choose to fill them with eventually makes up the fabric of our lives.  We all have mundane everyday tasks we have to do, chores and busywork, but the time we spend with the people we love is time well spent.  Just hanging out with family and friends, might be something you will look back on fondly someday.

Time spent improving oneself with education or "brainy" activities can also be fun, such as one of my favorite vocabularity expanding games, scrabble.  Keep in mind that the more time you are wasting on whatever your choice of time wasting activity is time you will never get back, so choose well.

Again with the heat...

Just when I thought we were finally getting a break from the 100's, here we go again!  It makes me wonder if fall is EVER going to arrive...Sweltering and Dry, a perfect environment for the wildfires here in texas.  Please pray for rain-boy do we need some. 

In future, I think I'll refer to 2011 as the unendably looooong, HOT summer, lol.  But seriously, we need a break from heat and drought.  The only good thing about no rain this summer is that there aren't any mosquitos, no stagnant water for them to breed in, I guess.  So at least we got a break from being eaten alive like usually happens to me summers.

As for fall, (whenever it decides to finally show up) all I can say is... BRING IT ON!

Ah, love...what makes the world go round...or what can drive you absolutely bonkers!   How many times have you looked at your partner and thought, what in the world was I thinking?  This person has zero percent in common with me!  If  you're honest with yourself, you would probably say there have been those kind of moments.   But then they do or say something that makes you fall in love with them all over again, and you wonder what you would do without them. 

My wonderful hubby and I are coming up on our seventh anniversary this month.  I am glad to report that so far, there hasn't been even the slightest hint of the infamous "seven year itch" with us.  I am just as much in love as I was when we said "I do".   Then there are the times I just want to pull my hair out and scream in frustration. I wouldn't have it any other way.  As maddening as he can be, I love him like crazy.

Creativity

Sittimg here, staring at my pc screen, waiting for inspiration, it occurs to me that creativity is an awesome gift.
God made each of us unique, with our own voice and our own something special we can do.  There's no reason to let it go to waste, just because we might be scared that others won't appreciate it or like it.  One of my favorite songs says "sing, sing a song, don't that its not good enough for anyone else to hear"  AMEN!

Make a joyful noise, write from your heart, do whatever gives you joy, and don't give a fig what anyone else thinks.  You are special and one of a kind, because there is just one of you.  Like snowflakes, no two of us are alike.  Viva la difference!

Long HOT Summer

Does anyone else think this is the closest you can get to hell without dying?  This summer, at least here in Texas, makes me long for the good old days of ninety degree temperatures...lol.  Here we are in the beginning of September, and so far we've had almost two months straight of 100 degrees or over.  I want fall, and I want it NOW!!
